Cllr Nick Adams-King - Chair of the HSCCA Board

Cllr Nick Adams‑King is the Leader of Hampshire County Council, having been re‑elected to the role following the May 2026 local elections.

Nick has served as the County Councillor for Romsey Rural since 2021, and has been a member of the County Council’s Cabinet since 2022. He was re‑elected to represent Romsey Rural in May 2026, reflecting continued support from local residents.

As Leader, and previously as Cabinet Member for Universal Services, he has overseen some of the County Council’s largest service areas, including Hampshire’s extensive highways network of over 5,000 miles. He also chairs the Hampshire Prosperity Partnership Board and is committed to driving economic growth across the county — championing skills, employment, and investment to ensure residents and businesses can thrive.

Nick is a strong advocate for collaborative regional working and plays a key role in the newly established Hampshire and the Solent Combined County Authority (HSCCA), which brings together local leaders to make strategic decisions on transport, housing, skills and economic development.

Before entering full‑time public service, Nick built a career as a chartered surveyor, with experience across the property and hospitality sectors, including running his own business. This background informs his practical understanding of the challenges facing businesses and communities alike.

Nick lives in rural Test Valley with his husband, a doctor at Southampton General Hospital, and their two children.

He has a longstanding record of public service, first elected as a Bournemouth Borough Councillor in 2005, later serving as a Test Valley Borough Councillor from 2015 and as Deputy Leader of the Borough Council from 2017 – 2023.
